Fossil Fuels

I wonder
How many dinosaurs I have set aflame
In my internal combustion engine

Apex predators
Massive, roaring beasts
Claimed the land as their own

Each heavy footfall a declaration
Of supremacy,
Of reptilian prowess.

Ha.

My gas-guzzling monster eats the glorified chickens for breakfast

Gasping with power
It demands Earth plowed and paved

Cement and gravel taking shape
Of the emperor’s new throne.
